Okay, so latest cinema take on “The Great Gatsby” hasn’t even
opened yet, and we can already feel the waves of style trend influence
building, from wedding dresses to formal evening wear and beyond.
Of course, “vintage” has in recent seasons practically been
synonymous with “chic”, and Downton Abbey fashion notes have crept into the
style consciousness (politely, of course) over the last few months. From first
looks, though, it seems that The Great Gatsby will add a welcome dose of glitz
and glam. Some style elements we’re looking forward to seeing in the months to
come:
Sensuous Shapes. Dress styles reflecting the 1920s (the
Gatsby era) include flowy shifts, blouson drop waist, and slinky lines that
skim the body. We love the fact that no matter what your body type, these
silhouettes can either show you off or hide a multitude of sins.
Luxe Fabrics. Softness and movement are key, so we imagine
lots of charmeuse, jersey, chiffon and soft netting.
Intricate Beading. If you read us at all, you know we have a
thing for sparkle, so we can’t argue with a little shimmer – or a lot. We love
the fringy beading we’ll be seeing more of, and love the intricate Art Nouveau
and Art Deco inspired beaded patterns even more.
